Launched Evolution's US Office from Zero to $1.1M in Year One

Evolution had no US presence, no brand recognition in North America, and no established client base when leadership asked me to open and lead their first US office in Boston. The company had long wanted to enter the American market but lacked the right person to build operations from the ground up. I was the only person on the ground, tasked with tapping into the Boston tech ecosystem with no infrastructure, no clients, and significant skepticism from US startups about working with an offshore partner they'd never heard of. I began by systematically mapping the Boston startup landscape and identifying key communities where I could build relationships. I attended major events like TechWeek and Startup Boston, making approximately 30 initial connections that I nurtured through targeted 1-on-1 meetings. I positioned Evolution as a partner who truly understood the local ecosystem, collaborating with local business and engineering leaders on podcast content to build credibility. I committed to spending one week each quarter in Boston to maintain face time with target customers and contacts. To overcome the trust barrier, I secured a pilot project with a well-known Boston fintech startup, which became our critical proof point and opened doors across the market—even as the tech market downturn in early 2023 made new business development exceptionally difficult. In the first year, I signed 10 clients and generated $1.1M in revenue. By year two, the office had grown to 15 active clients and I had built a team of 4 to support operations and delivery. Evolution now has an established US client base that views us as a partner of choice in the Boston tech ecosystem.
