As BeyondID scaled to five entities with complex intercompany transactions, our financial close process had become a manual, error-prone bottleneck—taking 18 days and consistently delaying board reporting. As the de facto CFO, I was tasked with owning the NetSuite implementation end-to-end, with a mandate to fix the process within two quarters.
I led the rollout by first mapping each entity's chart of accounts to ensure consistency across the consolidated group, then building automated intercompany elimination rules and configuring multi-currency consolidation directly in NetSuite. To de-risk the transition, I ran parallel closes for a full quarter alongside the legacy process to validate accuracy before officially cutting over, and personally trained the accounting team on the new workflows to ensure adoption and sustainability.
The results were significant: post-cutover, intercompany mismatches dropped to near zero and audit adjustments fell by 80%. The board began receiving financials 8 days earlier each month, dramatically improving decision-making speed at the leadership level. Our CEO and board specifically called out the faster reporting as a key operational improvement in board meetings, and our external auditors noted that the sharp drop in adjustments made the annual audit smoother and less costly—delivering value that extended well beyond the finance team itself.
