At Medical Solutions, AI initiatives were fragmented across teams, with no shared data pipelines, governance framework, evaluation standards, or permissions model. This decentralization caused duplicated engineering effort and created real compliance risk for clinician-facing AI tools in a highly regulated healthcare environment. As VP of Artificial Intelligence and VP of Product Innovation, I was mandated to unify these scattered AI efforts into a single, coherent platform.
I began by auditing every team's existing data and model usage to understand the full scope of the problem, then designed a shared platform architecture built around centralized permissions and governance layers to close the compliance gaps. To execute on this vision, I assembled and led a cross-functional team of 12 full-stack product and engineering teammates, delivering the platform over a six-month build cycle.
Within a year of launch, three product teams had migrated onto the new platform, cutting model deployment time from weeks down to days—a dramatic gain in engineering velocity. Critically, the clinician assistant built on this platform passed all compliance reviews, validating the governance model I designed, while also reducing clinician documentation time by 20%, delivering direct, measurable value to end users in a clinical setting.
